Your nostalgia is endearing but I think you miss the significant part of your lengthy trip into your past. Aren't you still playing multi-player games? When your wife (the one who gives you strange looks) goes into labor won't you call the same friend who helped you beat King's Quest to explain to you how to handle fatherhood? When your daughter or son tells you they hate you and slams their door (that you pay for) in your face I'm pretty sure you'll call for outside help. I know you think your wife doesn't understand multi-player games but there's a reason that wife wants you to see your friends in California, it's because they helped you complete puzzles she'll never understand and because they'll continue to do so. Only the significance of the pieces has changed.
